`This collection contains materials produced as part of a research project developing an interactive platform for collaborative composition. It contains video showing the operation of Paynter, an original piece of tablet-based software designed for Key Stage1 and Key Stage 2 pupils in primary schools. Paynter was designed to give pupils who are not necessarily highly experienced in the use of either Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) or notation the ability to create and manipulate musical and sonic ideas in order to create a sonic narrative. Video and audio artefacts of sessions held in 2019 at the Cathedral School of St Peter and St John (Primary) in Salford demonstrate its operation and the results, which were transcribed by the researchers and performed by an ensemble from the BBC Philharmonic orchestra, the University's research partners.
